The Hummingbird
The hummingbird sits at the heart of VLC because it captures something we deeply believe about childhood: joy can be light, movement can be meaningful, and the journey matters as much as the destination.
It hovers, pauses, darts and returns. It gathers sweetness from one place and carries it somewhere else. For us, that is a beautiful picture of learning.
Our Hummingbirds gather knowledge, experiences, friendships and love, and carry them outward — becoming people who add something good to the lives and communities around them.
Our Purpose
Leadership, to us, has little to do with titles or standing at the front of a room. It begins with awareness: knowing yourself, noticing others, understanding the consequences of your choices and having the courage to act with integrity.
We nurture children who question with curiosity, imagine with creativity, care with compassion and act with courage — children who can lead themselves before they seek to lead anyone else.

Early Years
Stories, Nature, Art and Play through SNAP®; a warm, sensory and relationship-rich beginning.
Grades 1-5
Elementary Years
Grades 1–5; curiosity grows into inquiry through STAMP, interdisciplinary learning and increasing independence.
Grades 6-12
Senior Years
Learning becomes more intentional, project-based and outward-looking as students prepare for further study and life beyond school.
Every stage builds on the one before it. The child changes. The questions change. The way we learn changes. What remains is the belief that education should help the whole person grow.
